Why use a Face Shield?

ANSI Z81.1 Standard defines safety goggles as primary eye protective devices. Your eyes need to be protected and that’s what the glasses/ goggles do but what protects your face. While classified as a second means of protection, the face shield primary function is to protect your entire face.

In combination with safety glasses the face shield provides the up most protection when dealing with debris or chemicals. The face shield windows are made with different materials to be used with different tasks. Whether it’s chemicals or debris, the face shield is meant to protect the user from injury.

3M has a few options that can be easily and quickly attached to 3M head wear. Depending on the task at hand the Clear Propionate Face shield Mounts inside the headgear crown for added splash protection.

There really should be no need to explain why the face shield is so important. Specifically, if you deal with chemicals. If you don’t want a chemical splash in your eyes, there’s a good chance you don’t want it going into your mouth. Face shields can (and should) be used anytime safety glasses need to be used.
